Terms of Use

1. License Grant

VocabSwipe grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App on compatible devices for educational purposes only. You may not:

• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
• Modify, rent, lease, or lend the App
• Redistribute or resell the App without permission
• Use the App for commercial purposes without authorization
• Remove or alter copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices

2. Intellectual Property Rights

VocabSwipe, including its logo, design, features, and content, is owned by or licensed to the developers and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. All rights are reserved. The vocabulary database, definitions, and example sentences are compiled from open-source and educational resources and may be subject to their respective licenses.

3. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

• Use the App only for lawful educational purposes
• Not engage in any form of abuse, harassment, or illegal activity
• Protect your device and account security
• Comply with all applicable local, state, and international laws
• Respect the intellectual property rights of others

4. Content and Data Accuracy

While we strive to provide accurate vocabulary, definitions, and pronunciation guides, VocabSwipe is provided on an "AS-IS" basis without warranties of accuracy or completeness. Users should not rely solely on VocabSwipe for formal language examinations without supplementary study resources. We make no guarantees regarding the currency or correctness of educational content.

5. Prohibited Activities

You shall not:

• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App or its systems
• Use the App to harass, threaten, defame, or harm others
• Transmit viruses, malware, or any code of destructive nature
• Interfere with or disrupt the App's normal operation
• Use the App to facilitate illegal activities or fraud
• Spam or engage in unwanted commercial solicitation

6. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VOCABSWIPE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT ANY WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. We disclaim all warranties including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

IN NO EVENT SHALL THE DEVELOPERS, OWNERS, OR CONTRIBUTORS BE LIABLE FOR:

• Data loss, corruption, or unauthorized access
• Device damage or malfunction
• Loss of profit, revenue, or business opportunity
• Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
• Any damages arising from app bugs, errors, or interruptions

This limitation applies even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

7. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless VocabSwipe's developers and contributors from any claims, damages, or legal fees arising from:

• Your violation of these Terms
• Your use of the App in violation of laws
• Your infringement of third-party intellectual property rights
• Any user-generated content you provide (if applicable)

8. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to VocabSwipe at any time, for any reason, including:

• Violation of these Terms
• Illegal or harmful activities
• Security concerns
• Discontinuation of the App

Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately. Uninstalling the App will remove all locally stored data.

9. Modifications to the App

We may modify, update, or discontinue VocabSwipe at any time without notice. Updates may introduce new features, bug fixes, or changes to functionality. Continued use of the App following updates constitutes acceptance of those changes. We are not liable for any data loss resulting from updates.

10. Third-Party Services

VocabSwipe is distributed through the Google Play Store and may integrate with Google's services. Your use is also subject to:

We are not responsible for third-party app stores or services. Always download VocabSwipe from official sources only.

11. Refund Policy

VocabSwipe is currently offered for free. If a paid version is released in the future, refund requests must be made through your app store (Google Play Store) within the store's refund window (typically 15 minutes to 2 hours). We do not process refunds directly; only your app store can authorize refunds.

12. Disputes and Governing Law

These Terms are governed by applicable international and local laws. Any disputes arising from the use of VocabSwipe shall be resolved through:

• Informal negotiation in good faith
• Mediation (if available in your jurisdiction)
• Arbitration or court proceedings as a last resort

You waive any right to class-action lawsuits and agree to arbitrate disputes individually.

13. Entire Agreement

These Terms of Use, along with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and VocabSwipe. If any provision is found invalid, that provision will be removed, and the remaining terms will remain in effect.

14. Standard vs Premium Content Access

Content Restrictions: VocabSwipe is offered in two versions:

• Standard Version (Free): Access limited to A1 level vocabulary only (approximately 500+ curated words, quizzes, and basic features). A2, B1, B2, C1, and C2 levels are locked and require Premium subscription to unlock.
• Premium Version (Paid Subscription): Full access to all 6 CEFR levels (A1-C2) containing 9,000+ curated vocabulary words, all quiz types, achievement badges, and advanced learning features.

Feature Parity: The core app experience (swiping, basic quizzes, offline learning, progress tracking) is identical between Standard and Premium. Premium users simply have access to higher proficiency levels.

No Hidden Costs: All features available in Standard are free indefinitely. Premium content access requires an active Premium subscription.

15. Subscription Terms and Billing

• Pricing: Premium subscription is priced at $4.99 USD per month (or equivalent in your local currency).
• Auto-Renewal: Your subscription automatically renews each month unless you cancel through your Google Play Store account settings.
• Cancellation: You may cancel your Premium subscription at any time through Settings → Subscriptions → Manage. Cancellation takes effect at the start of your next billing cycle.
• Payment Processing: All payments are securely processed through Google Play. We do not directly collect, store, or process payment information.
• Billing Disputes: Contact Google Play Support for billing inquiries, refund requests, or payment issues. VocabSwipe does not issue refunds—only Google Play can authorize refunds within their 15-minute to 2-hour window.
• Price Changes: We may update subscription pricing with 30 days' notice. Price increases take effect at your next renewal date. You may cancel if you do not accept new pricing.

16. Suspension of Access

VocabSwipe may suspend access to Premium content if:

• Your subscription payment fails and remains unpaid for 3+ days
• You violate Terms of Use (fraud, abuse, unauthorized access)
• Your account is flagged for suspicious activity
• You reverse or dispute a legitimate charge

Suspension is not a termination and may be lifted once the issue is resolved.
